First trade and logistics forum “North-South” took place in Kazakhstan

The First trade and logistics forum “North-South” is being held in Aktau (Kazakhstan), on the sidelines of which a tripartite meeting of the heads of transport departments of Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan and Afghanistan took place, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reports.

The interlocutors discussed a wide range of issues related to the further development of the cooperation potential between the three states in the field of transport.

In particular, the parties studied the conditions of cargo transportation on the Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Afghanistan route with further exit to Pakistan, as well as the possibility of participation of the Turkmen, Afghan and Kazakh parties in the implementation of the railway construction project from the Turkmen-Afghan border to the city of Herat (Afghanistan).

The parties noted that the transport route “Kazakhstan – Turkmenistan – Afghanistan” is an important component of the transit corridor “North-South”, the effective use of which will make it possible to ensure the transportation of goods in the volume of 5 to 8 million tons at the initial stage, and in the future – from 20 to 30 million tons.
